Monday night DIY

Take the dying remains of an old Ikea lamp, an antique wooden candle holder and a vase for candles from Habitat. Put it all together and youve got yourself a perfectly functioning reading lamp. One during the day, one during the night. Dont you just love it when you rummage around the house to put things together rather than buying something that just doesnt make you smile as much?

Heres another one of my famous blurry shots

I was disappointed with the KofC concert, and it wasnt simply down to the fact that I had a six foot man with a huge head in front of me bobbing up and down. I wouldnt have been able to see much anyway as I had forgotton to bring my glasses. Midway Erland broke a string on his guitar, there wasnt any technician on board to fix what was a catastrophic situation. If youve never heard of them before they are two Norwegian musicians with two guitars. Thats it. So there was only one guitar. And mouth trumpet courtesy of Erland. As well as a little tinkle on the piano which I couldve done better blindfolded. The lyrics to the songs are what saved me from total despair to my ears though, there were enough beautifully sung words that succeeded in taking me to some norwegian hills, where I pranced about in barefeet.

Latest felt tip creations

as well as this, a blurry picture of my clay experiment. I just couldnt get my camera to focus on it properly. This is the best shot out of about a hundred. I wanted to create a little keepsake of sorts. It feels really nice having a piece of artwork in the palm of my hands and after giving it a good coat of varnish, it felt really smooth and 'pebbly' (new word invented by me). Mr T suggested the idea of turning them into pendants, so Im doing a few more, different sizes and designs. I will post them once my camera is a bit more well behaved.
I did this plus the following sketches over the last few days. After getting married (twice;the first one being a religious affair in London, and the second one in a little village an hours drive from Lisbon)We stayed in a gorgeous house overlooking the sea . Its our Lisbon getaway most weekends and Mr T used to spend almost every summer there growing up. Its a place that holds alot of precious memories of his parents, both of whom are sitting on a cloud somewhere wishing us lots of love and happiness Im sure. We wanted to have some quiet time; no internet or telly, just lots of reading, lying on the beach and long walks. Most evenings I managed to get alot of these drawings done. I bought plenty of pens and a drawing pad from the local town and just got started without too much thought into what I wanted to do.It was one of the best breaks Ive had recently and I feel so lucky to share this special place with my husband.

Bath

After the wedding we spent three nights in a lovely country hotel in Bath. We felt like we were walking into a Woody Allen film for some reason, all those perfect green lawns and tennis courts.

Moroccan Pizza

This was yummy. I made this from a lovely book of Borough Market recipes in London. It was given to me as a gift by one of my dearest buddies. Anne, if you are reading this I was soooo happy to see you at our wedding! You must come and visit me soon!

lots of goodies for me...

A piece of my childhood for 45pence..and I won't tell you how much those paints cost because I still can't quite believe I spent that much. And its only the beginning of the month!. I'm still suffering from post student stress disorder.

A little In-flight entertainment

A little sketch I made whilst on a packed flight from London to Lisbon. There was something satisfying about going across both pages like that. Kinda going against the rules. Wow I just broke the rules! Thats about as much risk taking as i can take. I could also tell you that I tried drinking coffee in London but that would just be truly RECKLESS.

More cake anyone?

Its my party and Ill cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cryyyy if I want to...... cry with happiness I mean. My husband...yes husband since we are married!(well, according to the Shariah Muslim Council of the United Kingdom we are)As I was saying, my husband Mr T, surprised me with this little beauty! I could not believe what appeared from behind the giant cushion in our living room. Mr T pulled the cushion away like a magician and instead of a white rabbit there it was: a white singer sewing machine!!!! I have wanted this for sooo long and the daunting task of learning from scratch has now dawned on me. But I can't wait to use it! Im going to persevere in my plans to dress the world in gingham and polka dots. Okay..I ll go easy on the world and maybe inflict my curious imagination on a couple of cushions instead.
.......you would cry too if it happened toooo youuuuu!
